Workshop Date: To Be Determined

Do you have a DSLR that you use in auto mode because you haven't had the time to learn or it's all too confusing?

Wouldn't it be wonderful if your camera felt comfortable in your hands, you knew what those buttons did, and you were able to achieve the images you see in your mind? If so, this workshop is for you.

"It may be crazy but I only ever used my camera in auto mode, I did not have the knowledge to use the other settings and the camera manual was no help! This course helped me through those settings in an easy to follow and visual way, I can finally get the pictures I want of my little boy! Thank you for helping to catch life quick little moments!" - Jess Wasylin

NEXT CLASS: To Be Determined

The class will be held in my home studio at Reflections of Life Photography, 140 Livingston Avenue, Grimsby, ON

My goal with "Photography for Mamas" is to teach you how to use your camera the easy way, so you can preserve the childhood memories of your little ones.  Because we're not just mamas, but we're also moment keepers, and a lot of us are in charge of documenting the every day for our kids.

Not only are we going to cover the important topics of gear, exposure, settings, lighting, composition and connection, you'll also learn to see photo opportunities, and learn how to develop a vision of what you want your images to look like and carry that out. With well over 100 pages of content and me to explain it all as we go, you're going to be able to rock your DSLR.

There will be approx 30 minutes of shooting practice and Q & A.

Dress to impress - we're doing headshots of each other for practice (and for fun!)

To allow enough time for everyone's questions to be answered, this workshop has a maximum of 8 ladies in attendance.

We’re going to laugh, learn, and most importantly, you’ll walk away with a better understanding in how to photograph those everyday memories of your children.

This workshop will not discuss the business side of photography, print labs, editing, posing, props or backdrops.

You're going to form new friendships with other mamas who love to photograph and have little ones here in the Niagara area.

You'll be invited to a private "Photography For Mamas" Facebook group where you'll find workshop support, be able to ask questions, and post your photos to show off what you've learned. There will also be challenges posted to keep you clicking that shutter even after the workshop ends.

After our class is over, you're welcome to stay with me at the studio for 30 minutes of personal one-on-one help with whatever you're struggling with. There are only 2 of these available, so if you're interested in this, select the "Class + Personal Review" option at checkout.

You can purchase the online version of the workshop to learn from the comfort of your own home, or join our mailing list to be informed of our next one.

"I had a terrific time at the workshop! I think I learned more in those three hours than I have in the three years I've owned the camera! What I enjoyed most was the technical side, actually learning what the terms and buttons mean and how to apply that to any photograph. I found the course very well organized, had a very nice rhythm and flow, all the important things were covered. I would totally refer my friends to this course! I already have told a few of them! Thanks again and I look forward to continuing my learning! You're awesome!" -Debbi Meester

"I had the best time at the Photography for Mamas class!! I am so thrilled that I attended this course. I got exactly what I wanted out of it. I feel so confident using my camera now and am proud of the photos that I am able to take. What I liked best about the class was Karen! She gave us so much information and spent one on one time with all of us to make sure we understood every setting. I have already told 90% of my friends that they should do this!! I would just like to thank you so much for helping us all and providing us the opportunity to feel more confident in our photography skills!" -Melissa Fyfe

"Thanks so much for offering the Photography for Mamas workshop. I am so happy that I was able to attend the course and learn much more about my camera and its options. I really enjoyed learning about how I can adjust the settings on my camera to take the best picture in different lighting scenarios. I can’t wait to keep practising and playing around with the all the different shooting modes. I was amazed at how organized everything was. It is obvious that you are detailed oriented because you didn't seem to miss a thing! I love how you checked with us along the way and ensured we were all at the same pace. I would refer friends to this course and would love to take any further courses/hand-on workshops you offer. Please keep me posted!" -Tracy Lemmond

"What I loved most about this course was finally being able to understand how to use my camera to its potential. The lessons were simple and straight forward enough that it didn't require too much focus or time, which is a must when you have kids. Thank you! I really appreciated this course and I'm glad I decided to do it." - Sabrina Rallis

"I loved how the course was directly targeted towards taking better pictures of our kids as that can be a totally different and more difficult ball game than taking good pictures of adults. Also the open house was FANTASTIC and I really appreciated having the one on one in person time to tweak the skills we had learned in the lessons. I think as mothers we all want to capture the everyday moments with our families and if we could have a live in photographer to do that most of us would, but that is not practical. Having a course like this and being coached by a talented professional in the field of family photography is the best of both worlds! Thanks again Karen for taking time out of your schedule and for sharing your knowledge and skills with us!"- Kelsey Geerlinks

"So thankful that Karen offered this course to moms who want to learn how to better document the lives of their growing children. I have had my DSLR camera for 3 years now and have learned some tricks along the way, but this course brought it all together for me and I feel better equipped to take amazing pictures of my children. I love Karen's style of photography, which captures true joy and moments in peoples' lives, so it was really nice to learn from her. The class hosted in her home was a wonderful experience, getting to meet the other moms that participated and also having the opportunity to use her studio to take a few photographs on our own. Such a great experience! Thanks again Karen!" -Kathleen Potvin
