Grimsby Newborn Photographer | There You'll Be

grimsby-newborn-photographer

I have been lucky enough to be working with this family since big brother Kaden was a newborn. He is now 2 years old, and has a very important new role. He is the big brother to opinionated little Kaia Katarina.

Kaden is already a wonderfully sweet and gentle brother to Kaia. He loves her so, and was happy to hold her and kiss her. I can tell you from experience that this is not true with all two year old new siblings. But Kaden is a natural. At just two years of age, he is already there for Kaia.

Kaia, though just a newborn, has a very strong personality. She would rather be awake than sleeping, studying everything around her. Her strong personality will take her far in life, and she will be whatever she dreams to be.

I know that whatever Kaia dreams, her big brother Kaden will be there for her. Offering guidance, support and love just as he has done from the very first moments of Kaia's life. I look forward to watching Kaden and Kaia's relationship grow over the years, just as they will.

Grimsby Baby Photographer | Happy

grimsby-on-baby-photographer

Happiness. It is what this life is all about. To be happy and to make those around us happy. When we are happy, it is easy to make those around us happy.

Babies are the best spreaders of happiness. It is hard not to be happy when you have a big toothy grin looking at you. A baby's pride in his new accomplishments and sense of wonder in new discoveries brings a smile to any face lucky enough to witness it.

Malcolm recently came to the Reflections of Life Studio for his one year session. Malcolm is such a happy baby. So happy, in fact, that one of his favorite songs is Uptown Funk by Pharrell Williams. He loved to clap his hands and dance when we played the song. His joy and laughter brought me so much happiness, and continues to do so when I look at the images.

It is also clear from the images that Malcolm brings his beautiful mama a world of joy and happiness. We had a wonderful session together capturing Malcolm's joy, and Ashleigh's love for her baby boy. And, Malcolm's love for his mama. At the end of the session, he took the most adorable, wobbly steps across the room to his mama. He could not wait to be in her arms again. I loved seeing and capturing that moment - it made me happy.

Natural Light Photography Studio

When you step into my studio, I want you to feel like you can breathe. Not one of those fast breaths, but the kind that comes from deep within and refreshes your entire body. I want you to feel full of peace and at calm, where for these next moments, it is not about the busyness or about the stress.

It is about being here here, right now. Soft and soothing and sweet and slow.

I want you to lean back into who you are. Not performing or striving but just resting in exactly who you are. There is such a unique beauty that you carry alone. And that’s to be celebrated and to be captured. And so, that’s exactly what we’ll do.

And maybe I’ll get you to talk about what you’re passionate about, maybe you’ll play with your little one, maybe I’ll get you to tell a story, maybe we’ll think of the future – but most of all, we’re going to capture you being fully alive.

Because you being fully alive is magical. It is beautiful

Niagara ON Newborn Photographer | Room to Love

    niagara-on-newborn-photographer

The moment you first lay your eyes on your first baby, in an instant, you discover a love like no other. You suddenly understand what you have heard your friends with children talk about, and have a new-found appreciation for your own parents.

From that moment on, your love somehow grows. With every passing moment, you love that tiny little person more than you did the moment before. Your heart is so full.

When the time comes, your family of three prepares to become a family of four. You are excited and anxious to meet your newest love but you cannot help but wonder at times if you will love your new baby as much as your first. It seems impossible to be able to love another human as much as you love your first born. You may ask yourself if you could possibly have that much love to share.

Then that moment arrives. The moment you first lay your eyes on your second baby. You realize in that very instant that your heart has room to love this baby just as passionately and deeply as your first. And that, if the time comes, you will love a third, a fourth, or even a tenth just as much. You have room to love without limit because your babies are your heart.

I am so happy for Cynthia, Graydon, and little Gray as they welcome beautiful Willow into their hearts. I photographed Gray as a newborn and baby, and we had a lovely maternity session as the family waited for their newest member. Gray is a kind and gentle big brother already, and the love he has for his Willow is precious. I have so much adoration for this family, and it is a joy to capture their story.

THE SECRET & AWESOME FEATURES OF YOUR iPHONE CAMERA

Now some of you may know that I'm an Android girl, but I know many of you are iPhone, so when one of my fellow photographers, Julia Kelleher, gave me permission to share this, I knew you'd want me to.

Your iPhone is with you at all times, right? It’s like your right hand — always there, always ready to help you muddle your way through the day and kill boredom when the need arises. But that phone of yours can be oh-so-frustrating when your darling child chooses a particular moment to do something photo-worthy and your phone chooses that time to revolt.

Well, when you learn the inner and secret features of your iPhone camera, your days of being “slow on the draw” will be over. On top of that, your camera skills will improve 10-fold and your images will too, making your memories print and wall worthy.

So let’s look at some of the tricks and features inside your I-phone that will make you shine at the next family get together!

    Open Your Camera App FAST

Don’t miss ANY moment. To get to your camera lickety-split do one of two things depending on if your iPhone is locked or not.

    LOCKED:

    1. Hit the home button

    2. Locate the camera icon on the lower right corner of the screen

    3. Swipe up & the camera will open

    UNLOCKED:

    1. Swipe Up

    2. Tap the camera icon & the camera will open

    Turn On Your Grid

Activating the grid will place a “tick-tac-toe” box on your screen as you shoot. What’s the benefit? Where the lines cross is called a “power point.” When you place your subject on of the four points you create images with a little negative space and better, more artistic composition. A little pro tip that will make your images that much prettier!

    TO ACTIVATE:

    1. Go to Settings > Photos & Camera > Grid > Turn it On

Adjust Exposure And Focus At Your Will

Professional photographer know light like the back of your hand, and every lighting situation poses different issues, especially of you camera. A camera cannot see light and adjust the way the human eye can. So, it’s important to be able to tell your camera how to behave when you need it to in order to get a good “exposure.” The classic scenario that may drive you crazy is shooting a darker subject on a bright background. Your camera will want to make the background look good and your subject will be dark and ugly! ARGH! The way mourn this? Use the hidden feature in your iPhone that lets YOU control how bright an image is.

    CUSTOM SET YOUR EXPOSURE

    1. Open the camera

    2. Compose your shot

    3. Tap and HOLD on the screen where you want to focus. The yellow box will blink and set focus

    4.  Swipe up or down to make the camera brighten or darken the exposure

    5. When you’re happy with how it looks, take the shot!

    Turn Off Your Auto Flash

Flash from your camera almost never looks good. It produces a harsh, flat light that doesn’t always need to be there, yet the camera seems to want to use it all the time. Turn it off when you can for more pleasing light in your images.

    TURN OFF YOUR FLASH

    1. In the camera app, tap the lighting bolt icon in the upper left corner.

    2. Choose and tap “Off.”

    3. Shoot as you like!

Use Burst Mode For Fast Action

Did you know your I-phone can shoot 10 frames per second in burst mode? WHAT? My iPhone has burst mode? Yes it does! And it’s great for catching your toddler on the run.

    TO ACTIVATE:

    1. Press and HOLD the shutter release button on your camera app.

    2. Voila! 10 frames per second.

    Edit Like A Pro

Taking the picture is just half the process in the Pro world. Editing and enhancing the image is 50% of the process. Yes, even when you shoot with your I-phone you can make your images stand out even more by using a good editing app.

Here’s a few fun suggestions to try out: Photogene, hipstamatic, Rhonna Designs, snapseed, pic-tap-go, wood camera, camera+, mextures, after focus, tiltshift generator, procamera

Scheduling for September, October, and November will open today, July 1st, and stay open until all available dates are filled or August 1st…whichever comes first.

I've had a wonderful response so far, more requests than anticipated, so please, if you're thinking of connecting, don't wait.

Family Photographer Niagara | After Your Portrait Session

For those of you who have been following my recent posts and anxiously waiting, you know my fall family session calendar opens on July 1st!  The fall season may seem far away, but it'll be here before you know it!  You'll be so glad you've crossed this off your to-do list.

Yesterday's post was all about our pre-session process, all that's included, how we'll prepare and what month would be best for you to book.

So, what happens after your portraits are taken?

Printing photographs can be quite overwhelming for all of us. There are so many decisions and possibilities. Luckily, I have spent years perfecting the ordering process to make it easy!

Once your session is complete, I get to work! I will hand-edit each of your images and then send them off to be printed as proofs. We will schedule a time for your ordering appointment, and we can meet back at the studio. This is where the fun begins! You will be able to sift through your images, and I will help you choose a collection that best suits your needs. All collections include digital files as well as tangible products.

You’ll be able to hold our products in your hands, and to envision your images within them. When I create your imagery, it isn’t created for viewing on any old computer screen. It’s made to be touched; to be held; to tell a story you can feel, and to be remembered. Life is just too short to let those digital files sit in a drawer, or become an obsolete file type.

You'll love walking into a room dressed with portraits, or flip through the pages of an album re-living the memories captured during your session.  You'll be so pleased you did this!

Family Photography Niagara | About The Process

For those of you who saw my post yesterday, you know my fall family session calendar opens on July 1st, which just a couple of days away. It may seem far away, but I promise you will be super happy to have this crossed off your list.

So, lets talk about a fall family session and all that's included!

Your session starts with one on one conversation with me via email, phone or in person here in the studio. We'll discuss your wants and wishes and plan your session wardrobe. I have both a studio wardrobe that you and your family may borrow from, and I also offer complimentary styling/shopping. We will also talk about make up and get that scheduled during that time. I work with a make up artist who is wonderful and comes to you! We'll also talk investment, and how all of my portrait collections include printed proofs, deep matte art prints, and your digital image files.  All of this lays the foundation for a very successful session.

The day of your session, we will meet at the field down the street from my studio. Family sessions generally last between 1-2 hours, but we will stop photographing when I am confident that we've capture enough to create a gallery of at least 25 unique images.

I prefer to begin photographing all my outdoor sessions about an hour before sunset.  Why?  The light is absolutely gorgeous, it lends itself to a soft warm glow, and it's incredibly flattering for your family portraits.

Which month is best for you?

We'll be using the natural sunlight to it's fullest potential, and in September we begin between 6-7 pm.  For many of my clients, it's no big deal to keep their little ones up, as they can pack pajamas to slip into afterward in case they fall asleep in the car on the way home.

As time passes and the season begins to shift, you'll find in October we begin around 5-6 pm.  The colours are beginning to change, and this is the most popular time for family photography.  It can be very hard to find available dates during the month of October.

If you love the look of a golden field, you'll want to begin even later in the year.  November would be ideal for you.  Due to daylight savings time, we'd begin between 3-4 pm.

Stay tuned tomorrow for what happens after your fall family photography session. I hope to see you this fall!  Remember, my calendar closes on August 1st, so make sure you schedule your September/October/November session before then.  I can't wait to experience it all with you.

Niagara Fall Family Photographer | Let The Countdown Begin!

School's out for summer, my little ones are home from school, and since I'm spending so much time with them during July and August, my next thought is fall family sessions!

With all the sunlight, laughter and fun, these summer months will pass so quickly.  Just like last year, September is going to be here before we know it. The fall season is always so busy for us as photographers, as everyone wants to update their family portraits and send out cards to their friends and family.

So this year I’ve decided to do things a little differently.

Scheduling for September, October, and November will open on July 1st and stay open until all available dates are filled or August 1st…whichever comes first.

There are currently very limited weekend dates available, so if a Saturday is a must, make sure you get in touch on opening day (July 1).

I cannot wait to hear from you all, and to meet some new faces.  This fall is going to be so much fun!

How to Reduce Stress Before And During A Portrait Session

    The day is here.

You have waited nine long months, your new baby is finally in your arms and you just realized you haven't scheduled your newborn portrait session. You are excited to have your family documented, celebrated and to leave your children with beautiful images that include you.  Now what's the best way to go about doing it?  I have put together some helpful hints that will make it not only stress free, but oh, so enjoyable.

    {FIND THE RIGHT PHOTOGRAPHER}
Choosing the right photographer for you makes a big difference in how stressed you will feel during a photo session. I encourage my clients to meet with me beforehand, or have a really good telephone conversation about their vision for the session and all those little details.  I enjoy getting to know you and ensuring our visions for the session are compatible.

    {CLOTHING CHOICES}
I send my clients a list of clothing options that work well here in the studio.  Although I do have options for baby and mom on hand, wearing your own clothing can make your portraits feel a little more personal.  It’s a wise idea to choose the outfits you’ll be wearing a few days before your session, just in case you’re in need of something.  Iron and hang/lay them out the night before to take out the stress of remembering, and so your husband can assist you with dressing everyone with ease.

    {DO YOUR BEST TO REST}
Sleep when your baby sleeps.  Seriously.  If you’re coming to a studio anyway, the dishes can wait.  Do your best to ensure that everyone in the family gets a proper amount of sleep the night before a photo session.  You will feel so much better if you are well rested and you will be better able to handle the little stressers that are sure to occur.

    {COMMUNICATE ANY CONCERNS}
If there are special circumstances that I (or the photographer you choose) should be aware of, make sure to communicate that ahead of time. If I know your child has special needs, I can plan ahead and I’ll be more likely to achieve the images you will love so dearly.

    {RELAX}
You just had a baby, so I assume you are not going to be on time for your session.  Just do your best.  I am completely okay with that.  We are creating beautiful images of your family, but we’re also having a special day together and making memories. Embrace the idea of me documenting your children interacting with you or each other. That’s exactly how we’ll get the great images where everyone looks like themselves.

In all of the chaos and the conversations, you know who you are. You know you would like these moments documented in the most wonderful of ways.  In the beauty and in the light of God’s goodness, you know who you are. Woven through His words, scripture, promises with your name on it is the very description of exactly who you are. You are a treasure. You are on purpose. You are loved. You are powerful. You are a mouthpiece of grace.  Now let’s begin this adventure together.

Niagara Baby Photographer | Through the Haze

    niagara-baby-photographer

During the first days, weeks and months with a new baby, life can feel like you are walking through a haze. So many new emotions, routines and, of course, the lack of sleep. One moment you are overflowing with love and joy as you gaze at your little miracle. In the next, you are sobbing as you fold and tuck away the last tiny NB sized onesie.

The days and nights start to melt together, while at the same time stands still every moment you are with your new love. Her big brown eyes look into your soul. She may not be able to talk, but you know her voice. And even through the haze, she is the most beautiful thing you have ever laid your eyes upon.

Lovely Nora, along with her parents Patrick and Rachel, met up with me at Charles Daley Park for a sun-kissed baby milestone session. Rachel took great care in selecting soft, neutral tones for their session. Doing so left the focus on their connection with and love for one another. Images telling the greatest love story of all time. The story of parents' love for their baby. And Nora is so, so loved.

    Why I Love Lifestyle Photography

Candid photography is raw. It is uncut moments in time. It is a person getting on the bus. It is a split second where someone is doing something in their natural environment and not posing for a camera. It is not perfect photographs featuring perfect posing and lighting.

Lifestyle photography combines that candid photojournalism with perfect posing and lighting to creates a more modern style. Photographers who specialize in lifestyle photography create images of people doing things they would normally do in a natural setting.

This is my preferred style of photography and let me tell you why.

Newborn lifestyle photography is about documenting the life of a brand new little person. It is about capturing the personality of each baby and celebrating their uniqueness. It is about the feelings between two parents as they realize the future years of their life have been forever changed for the better.

And through newborn lifestyle photography, I get to immerse myself in their life even for just a couple hours and enjoy and capture the love that is naturally surrounding them.

In order to capture these feelings, an environment needs to be created that facilitates connection. Lifestyle photographers often need to be able to photograph their subjects as if there is no camera in the room. It takes time for parents to feel completely comfortable, so these sessions can never be rushed. With newborns, I always follow their cues, their position likes and dislikes, and if they should move their arm, stretch out those tiny feet, give me a great big yawn, I photograph it. Those moments are just as, if not more important. Being able to capture the personality of a newborn baby in images is something new parents are sure to treasure completely.

Every life is so valuable, so beautiful, so precious. There are ways that a baby will just yawn or in how a mom will rock her little girl against her chest, that is beautiful. There are stories and narratives we can tell through capturing these moments that people can keep forever. In a glimpse of these first few months of their life, we get to capture their innocence, their story, their personality, just how very loved they are. We get to capture it not in a rigid way, but them as they are in their element.

Lifestyle newborn photography takes the planning and preparation of newborn studio portrait sessions and combines it with the raw, uncut moments of newborn photo-journalistic photography. The result is a brand new form of art. One that leaves parents breathless. One that leaves a lasting memory, of that perfect little babe and the feelings of love that surround them.

    Choosing A Newborn Baby Photographer

Do you know the moment when you first met your baby?  When you finally got to hold her in your arms?  Like all of your insides had been hugged, like all the empty spaces got filled, like you found the answer to the questions your soul had been asking.

The love that we have in our hearts for our children is special and powerful. It is a beautiful treasure when we are able to have that photographed and preserved for forever.

Newborn photography is a once in a lifetime thing.  I’ve had clients call my studio when they’ve had a bad experience with another photographer and by the time they know the images aren’t any good, it’s too late to truly capture that newness.  Even at three weeks, your newborn is going to look so different, and they won’t curl up as they did when they first entered the world.  If that was your vision, you can’t go back again.  Here are some questions to ask a photographer before reserving your session with them.

    1. How much experience do you have photographing newborns?

The answer to this question doesn’t have to be a specific length of time, but how many newborns they’ve photographed. You can also tell if a photographer has a great deal of experience by their posing. You want to see that newborn expressions are not strained and that their hands and feet look comfortable and cozy.

    2. Have you taken courses in baby posing or newborn photography?

Reputable newborn workshops contain information about newborn safety. The approximate weight of a newborn’s head is 25% of their body weight, meaning that newborn babies are quite top heavy. When photographing, professional newborn photographers use weights in the bottom of their buckets or bowls, counteracting the weight of your new baby’s head to reduce any possibility of injury.

If you see images on a photographer’s website that you’re questioning the safety of, politely ask them how they were done. Many are composites and a professional newborn photographer will be happy to put your minds at ease.

    3. How long do your newborn sessions typically last?

It’s very important not to be rushed during your newborn session. If the room is quiet and calm, your baby will be more likely to sleep and be calm as well. You must have time to listen to the cues your baby gives during your session. For example, rooting. Rooting is when your baby will turn his or her head and open their mouth searching for food. If your baby is doing this, you will need time to feed him or her.

Also, not every baby will do every pose you’d like. Every newborn is different and comfortable in different positions. A professional understands the cues babies will give and will encourage and help you to care for your newborn during your session. Professional photographers range in the amount of time they need to photograph, but I typically need 1.5 hours to achieve 25-30 unique images.  This includes family members and light, baby-led posing. Professional photographers may ask you not to schedule appointments immediately following their session, so if they need more time, they have it.

    4. Do they provide digital files only?

I believe in a tangible photography experience. Every client I service receives a wooden box of proofs, their digital image files, and two 5x7 deep matte prints, matted and ready to frame.  I realize the value of high quality, printed pieces, and the fact that our portraits can't live forever on a USB.  There's no way to guarantee a digital file, it's as simple as that.  They can corrupt at any time.  The only way we can ensure that your baby sees these images many years from now is to print them.  Giving you just the digital image files is a dis-service to you, so I you won't find that option in my product menu.

    5. Do you have references?

Many professional newborn photographers have testimonials on their website, but feel free to ask for references from parents of other babies they’ve photographed. When it comes to professional newborn photography, there are no official guidelines or skills required to start up a business. To ensure you’re working with someone who is committed to proper business practices, I suggest asking the photographer you’re considering if they’re an active member of the Professional Photographers of Canada.

You want to work with a photographer that will provide a space that is safe and calm for your newborn. By asking the right questions, it helps you get to know who you’ll be working with and whether they are a good fit for you. It matters that you are comfortable and at ease.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions! Ask away.

When choosing a newborn baby photographer, please consider the professionalism and experience they have above all else.  Style is important too, but without professionalism, you won’t look back at the experience fondly.

When you hand your newborn over to someone you don’t know, you want to feel confident that they have your whole world in their hands, and that they’re going to treat it with the ultimate kindness and care as they soothe, care for, and photograph your precious baby.

Choose someone who will be professional, who you can trust and who will carry out your vision.

As a trained professional, I put your baby first, above all else, achieving images of the highest quality and they’re yours to cherish, from that day forward.  I want to create you beautiful images that capture this precious time in your life as a parent and their lives in as they enter their first few weeks in this world.

Niagara Region Family Photographer | Learning the Ropes

    niagara-region-maternity-photographer

When I started photographing this family they had just become three. They had welcomed their first baby into their lives and hearts, their son, Carter. As with all new parents, Alicia and Travis were still learning the ropes of being parents to a newborn, but completely in love with little Carter.

Our next session, the following year with the arrival of their daughter Jordan, Alicia and Travis were learning the ropes of being parents of two. A toddler and a newborn. Anyone who has been there knows all of the joys, and challenges, that come with it! Alicia and Travis handled it in stride.

About 2 years following the arrival of Jordan, I was able to help welcome little Wyatt to the family. Alicia and Travis were newborn pros by this time, juggling two toddlers and a newborn with ease. The whole family was overjoyed by the arrival of Wyatt.

I was beyond excited for the family's most recent session because it was the first maternity session we have done for Alicia. We met up at one of my favorite fields for an evening of magic and celebration. At this point in their journey, as they await the arrival of their fourth baby, Alicia and Travis are soaking in every second. They are enjoying this moment, and the last remaining moments as a family of 5. You can feel the excitement the whole family has for the new baby, it fills the air with laughter and squeals of joy. And, before they know it, they will be a family of 6.

Niagara ON Family Photographer | Moments Like This

    niagara-on-family-photographer

I am in the business of capturing moments. Our lives are made up of moments, and the best ones define us. They are the moments that make our hearts overflow with love and happiness. Those are the moments that I strive to capture during sessions.

Loving, laughing, dancing and snuggling. Maxine, Stu and their beautiful daughters, Savannah and Lilah, shared all of those moments during their family session. I was the lucky one who was there to capture them. It is always a privilege to photograph these moments, especially when it is for a fellow photographer who has given me the same. You see, Maxine photographed me and my family last year at this very location. The images she captured are cherished by my family, and displayed in our living room. My only hope is that these images bring Maxine and her family just as much joy.

Maxine and Stu have created a beautiful family. Savvy and Lilah are sisters who have already started their journey of friendship. I know their closeness will continue to grow as they grow. Together they will create the moments that define a lifetime. I am so grateful I was able to capture some of those moments for them to always be able to look back on and smile.

Niagara Mom and Baby Photographer | There You'll Be

    niagara-mom-and-baby-photographer

For 9 long months, you carried your baby directly under your heart. The minute he entered the world you held him in your arms, and breathed in the moment. During the first weeks and months, you will hold your baby will spend most of his time on your chest or in your arms, as close to your heart as possible. But before you know it, your baby will be on the move. First rolling, then crawling, and then walking and running. With each milestone, the physical distance between your heart and your baby grows. So, as you start and end each day, hold your baby as close to your heart as you can. Soak in those sleepy snuggles and cherish those moments. And remember, no matter how far the baby you once carried directly under your heart travels from you, in your heart he'll always be.

This is my last share of images from the Illuminate Retreat by the Motherhood Anthology in Fredericksburg, Texas. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be uplifted and inspired by so many beautiful women. I am considering attending the next installment, next February in Florida, to continue my journey.

Niagara Maternity Photographer | Pushing Your Limits

    niagara-maternity-photographer

I talked about how we should never stop growing in a recent post about the Illuminate Retreat I was so fortunate to attend. This post is a continuation of that Retreat and my journey.

As we grow as artists and humans, we must push the limits that we previously set for ourselves. Perhaps the hardest areas to push the limits are the ones we are most familiar with. I have been shooting indoor maternity session for years. I am comfortable working with my maternity clients, and posing them in ways that are not only natural but flattering to the pregnant form. I have found my style, and it represents who I want to be as an artist. And yet, I continue to push my limits.

Leaving the familiar, safe haven of my studio to travel to Fredricksburg, Texas was, in and of itself, pushing my limits. My studio is an extension of myself. I know the lighting from every angle, and at every time of the day. I know how to set my camera based on the weather on any given day. I know my studio. I trust my studio.

Pushing myself into a new environment, I was able to work with different lighting and shadows. The results are my style, yet different. I pushed myself to create something different. Something beautiful. I returned to my studio with a fresh perspective, and a desire to push the limits. Even in my own space.

Niagara Family Photographer | Feeding the Soul

    niagara-family-photographer

We've talked about how we must never stop growing and pushing your limits, as it relates not only to life but to my experiences at the Illuminate Retreat in Fredricksburg, Texas. The Illuminate Retreat put on by the Motherhood Anthology was an experience that I will never forget. It helped me grow as an artist, it pushed me outside the comfort of my Reflections of Life studio, and it fed my soul. I was given the opportunity to bond with some of my favourite photographers friends from all over the world. Connect with them on a level beyond that of social media. Relax, eat, drink and enjoy one another's physical company. Connecting over photography, life, and womanhood. We strengthened our friendships, and just had a fabulous time together.

Our souls crave human connection. A laugh with a good friend, a hug from a child, a caress from a significant other, nursing a baby. All of these connections feed our souls in different ways. One of the many reasons that I love family sessions is capturing those connections. We had a beautiful family to photograph at the Illuminate Retreat. Paired with a gorgeous evening, perfect light and an inspiring weekend, my soul was full.
