4 Ways to Use Your Maternity Photos

Maternity sessions are a celebration of what’s to come.

Maternity sessions are a celebration of what’s to come. There’s something so special about the love and excitement during a maternity portrait session. Some of my mamas are surprised at how much they love their maternity photos. If you need tips on how you and your partner can feel comfortable for your maternity photos, click here.

Usually, during our session planning, I’ll ask if you have any ideas on how you want to display your photos. This helps us plan your session with the end goal in mind. If you’re not sure, I have four ideas for you.

How to Use Your Maternity Photos

Here are four ideas for using your maternity photos after your sessions. Which one feels right for you?

Display Them in Your Primary Bedroom

Displaying your maternity photos in your room will allow you to see them often. You’ll be able to smile and reminisce about that time in your life. Some clients like to hang a maternity photo next to their wedding photo so they can see their love grow.

Add to Your (Growing) Family Storywall

You may already have a family gallery wall on your living room or hallway wall. Your maternity photos are the perfect addition. If you don’t, your maternity photos can be the perfect starting point that you can add to as the years go by. The beautiful Hosein family pictured here has started a gallery wall with 2 maternity portraits and 17 album images. We'll be adding to both once their newborn arrives, and I can’t wait.

Incorporate Them Into Your Child’s First-Year Album

We can incorporate a few portraits from your maternity session into your child’s first official portrait album. They’ll love to see photos of you pregnant. They’ll get to see your bump and how excited you were to meet them. I love doing this for clients after their newborn, six-month, and one-year sessions. The truth is that growing up and seeing their photos on display is good for children!

Create an Album for Yourself

Have you been told that you’re glowing or that pregnancy suits you? While you may not see it now, I promise you’ll look back at your maternity photos and see that glow. Having an album to look through will engage the senses as you turn each page and reflect on your pregnancy journey.

Full-Service Maternity Photography

You deserve to display your maternity photos in a way that’s meaningful to you. With a baby on the way, it might feel like you just don’t have the time to plan and print any of your maternity photos. That’s why full-service maternity photography is so important to me. I won’t leave you with any homework to do. Instead, I will take care of your design, ordering, and installation needs. Being able to hand a mama her custom album or reveal her new gallery wall is the highlight of my week.

Your pregnancy journey is part of your family’s story, and you should be able to look back and remember this special time in your life.
