The Honour Of Being Your Home

One of the most beautiful gifts I've received is the honour of being your home.

For nine months, I got to be your home. I got to be the place that you snuggled into and were safe. I got to protect you from the elements of life and cover you in every single way. I felt you grow right here inside of me, and watched my belly swell. Your little kicks grew stronger over time. I got to sing over you. I got to talk to you. I got to be with you 24/7 in love, and we had such a strong bond.

You have changed how I see the world. You’ve changed how I walk. You’ve changed the stories I tell. I never knew it was possible to love someone like I love the both of you. I never knew it was possible to fall in love with someone I’ve never even met.

But baby, it has happened. It has happened with each of you.

And while I waited for that moment to kiss your cheeks and swaddle you so, I prepared your next home. I prepared the space that you now live in and sleep in and breathe in. I prepared it with furniture and all that goodness, but I also prepared it with love.

I prepared to love you with my everything. I prepared to fill your life with those who will do the same.

I'm blessed with two little babies, and in every spot of this journey, loved is what you’ve been. Loved is what you are. Loved is what you’ll always be. And nothing in the world will ever change that or make that disappear. Nothing. You're loved in your sleeping, your waking, your crying, and your growing. You're loved in your coming and going, your rising and falling.

You're loved. You're loved because you are. And I pray that both of you find your home in that love. Forever. xo

Karen Byker is a Professional Photographer Grimsby Ontario Canada.jpg

Hi there, I'm Karen Byker from Grimsby, Ontario, Canada. I'm obsessed with giggling kids, newborn baby yawns and fancy flavoured tea.

I'm a mother of four that understands the overwhelm of the every day, but I've learned how to embrace and enjoy the beauty of it. I believe we should be able to enjoy this life we chose.

I've been a professional photographer since 2005. I've helped hundreds of mothers to slow down, pause and use photography as a reminder to take a breath.

I'd love to talk with you about documenting the beauty through your chaos. Let's chat!
