Holding On To The Promise Of Spring

There is something about winter that can feel so heavy and so burdensome. It’s like we’re wrapped in thick blankets, mittens, and hats for months. When spring hits, it's like everything that was sleeping wakes up. Everything that was sitting on the sidelines gets up to dance.

Many of us got a taste of spring last week, and we opened up our windows and took playful walks through the mud. And we felt it! We felt like dancing.

But today, we have closed those windows once more. The temperature has gone down once again and we’re keeping our shovels handy in case more snow will be falling.  And we hold onto this promise that spring is coming.

Spring is heading straight for us. It is going to show up in our gardens, on our sidewalks, in our skies. And it is also going to show up in our dreams and in our souls.

You know that feeling you get when it is spring? Like everything is new and that there are limitless fresh moments in store. And you breathe in that air that smells as if the rain and sun ran together. You feel free, that if you wanted to run through that field touching the grass as you go, you could, you really could.

That’s what I love about spring. That it hands us new beginnings. It paints a picture of potential and possibility. And that stuff that got hidden and got heavy in the winter emerges as wild and beautiful in the spring.

And what a story there is in that, even for us. No matter what gets buried and heavy in life, it is not lost forever. Transformation and growth happen as we embrace the seasons as heaven brings them.

Feeling a bit overwhelmed by parenthood?

Hi there, I'm Karen! I am obsessed with newborn baby yawns, giggling kids, and fancy flavoured tea. I'm a mama of four who understands the busyness of everyday life and I've learned how to embrace and enjoy the beauty of it through lifestyle photography. I know what it’s like to look back on my children’s first years and feel like they flew by so quickly. I don’t want any other mamas to forget what their baby’s little fingers and toes looked like all curled up. My hope is that I can help you create albums and prints to serve as physical reminders of these sweet times throughout your baby’s early years. Contact me for info.
