A Love Letter to first-time mothers

Mothers are the strongest people in the world. They create miracles every day.

That’s why I’m so passionate about helping busy moms reflect on the beauty of their journey. First-time moms possess a courage that is unparalleled, but sometimes it’s hard for them to see what an incredible difference they make every day. I know, I’ve been there.

Whether you’re pregnant with your first baby or you are celebrating with your newborn, you deserve recognition for everything you do.

So, what would I say to first-time moms?

You are doing enough; you are enough.

You need to know that every mother has felt like you: like you aren’t doing enough, or you aren’t living up to expectations. I’m here to tell you that you are enough. When you believe that you are enough, that you are doing enough for your family every day, you’ll feel happier and less stressed.

Practice focusing on what you have and have done, instead of what you think you’re lacking. Consciously turn those negative thoughts into positive ones. Reflect on all the little things you’ve accomplished today, like learning how to be more patient with yourself and with baby.

Remind yourself every single day, you are enough.

Everything you do makes a difference.

So many new parents tell me they have no clue what they’re doing. But from my perspective, you’re doing it! You take things one moment at a time and figure it all out the best you can. The little things you do while you figure out the big stuff, those make a difference too.

When you give them a big hug while they’re crying, or remind them why you love them before they understand the words. Your whole life has changed, yet you make sure you are there for them in at least some small way through every moment.

Everything you do counts, Mama.

Your best doesn’t need to be perfect.

Sometimes we feel that, as mothers, we need to create meaningful moments for our family that are just perfect. We try to coordinate every little detail and force everything into place by our sheer will, so that our family has the perfect life to look back on.

But the memories that we treasure the most are the imperfect ones! And nobody expects you to be perfect. Your family just wants you to be real, and be present in the real moments. Focus instead on intentionally being together and welcoming every family member as they are.

Your family loves you for you, not for the perfect version of yourself that lives in your head. Remind yourself that everything you do is good enough, and celebrate the little imperfect things you do every day.

You’re doing an incredible job.

Just by being yourself and loving your family. You’re helping your little one blossom into the beautiful soul they are meant to become. Every cry, every laugh, every song, and every soothing whisper strengthens your bond and helps them grow in a safe space.

I am so proud of you!

You deserve to celebrate the big milestones and every little moment in between.

I know how busy you are, how draining motherhood can be, and yet how much you want these moments to last forever. We often find ourselves on the other side of the camera, capturing the important milestones for our kids. But you belong with your family, experiencing those moments with them!

Your session will feel effortless, luxurious and fun from start to finish. You can be yourself and celebrate all your have dedicated to your family. Your photos will help you see the magic in everything you do as a mother, and remind you that you are a miraculous force in this world.

Let’s celebrate your motherhood journey together.
